Introduction: Endurance Sports Training - 4 Part Series
Updated: Feb 10
Over the coming weeks Toe The Line Project will be featuring a 4-part series on training for endurance sports. This series of articles will delve into the two prevailing schools of thought on how to build fitness for endurance sports. The aim is to explain the different approaches, understand their applications, compare them, and provide insight into what might suit you, your objectives, and your lifestyle.
Here is what to expect:
Part 1: Traditional Periodisation
Part 2: Reversed Periodisation
Part 3: Understanding Training Cycles, Training Load & the 80:20 rule.
Part 4: Comparing the Different Approaches to Periodisation
All of these articles will pull information from various sources (scientific journals, online sources, previous interviews on this website, print & other) and will represent the author’s understanding and appreciation of the concepts. The aim isn’t to find one definitive answer and solution for training, but to provide a balanced overview of what can be done, how you can apply it and elements that you should think about when planning your training.
We are keen to get our readers’ thoughts, feedback and questions on these subjects, so please don’t hesitate to comment with your thoughts or send us a message.
Stay tuned for Part 1 coming soon!
